Did you know that your credit can keep you unemployed?

If you are job searching, be warned that your credit can keep you from getting the job. Certain job industries carry with it the need to handle expensive items, money, and confidential material.  With a low credit score, you may be deemed too much of a risk of theft or other compromising behavior.

Certain industries you can expect that the employer would want you to have good credit, like banking, insurance, law enforcement, and lending.  But according to studies conducted in 2014, one in four people applying for a job had to undergo a credit check- and of them, one in ten were turned away as a result of what they found.

Because of the expansive information that can be found in your credit report (see our blog on how your criminal records can be found in your credit report), more and more employers may be relying on this resource to determine if you are a good fit.  If you are planning to get that job of your dreams (or a job to get rid of the nightmarish one you have now), you may want to first take a gander at your credit report, and let us give you a free consult regarding its content.
