If you are looking to dispute items on your credit report there are several laws that you may want to familiarize yourself with first. One of these laws is found in section 611 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act -FCRA 611 (15 U.S.C. §1681i).

This section of the law explains the responsibility (or lack thereof) of the credit reporting agencies when you dispute an item. It is here they explain the popular 30 day response time to your request. It also delineates the procedure for something to be put BACK on your credit report that has been already deleted.

Familiarizing yourself with your rights will help you communicate effectively with the three bureaus. Sometimes though, the legalese is as it is- a foreign language. Let us help you if you need it.
